Living in Cathedral City

Below you can find information and city facts about Cathedral City, California.  This information is provided by A Top Agent, Cathedral City Expert! This is the city guide to Cathedral City real estate for Riverside County in California. Find nightlife, housing, transportation, community and recreation information.

Cathedral City Community

Located between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City is a fairly big city, more than one-third the size of San Francisco. Being in the low desert the City is quite hot in the summer ( often 100 plus) but very comfortable in the winter, usually in the 70s and 80s.

Starting with hills on its south side, the area descends into a bowl, then rises almost imperceptibly as it moves north to Interstate 10. There is plenty of open space and land for development, especially on its north side, and construction in the town has been booming. The San Jacinto Mountains drop to about 2,200 feet just south of Cathedral City but to the west, past Palm Springs, they rise to their full majesty - an impressive sight!

Cathedral City Housing

All types of housing may be found here, from early suburban developments to new, modern expansions with creamy stucco, tile roofs, and two to three car garages, well in-line with popular Coachella Valley and Southern Californian style. The pride of the property owner is shown through tidy and cared for homes, which reflect all the clean and well maintained streets.

Cathedral City Recreation

Cathedral City is full of places and activities for people of every age. Downtown Cathedral City is being redeveloped, with a multi-screen movie complex and an IMAX theater already completed. City Hall (fittingly built in the style of the California missions) maintains local parks, runs a recreation department, arts and crafts, and activities for the young and old.

A first-class library, the ultra modern Cathedral City Public Library provides a host of exhibits, historical collections, art, computer services and books from around the world. The high school stadium is one of the finest in California and is used for community and private events.

There is a mix of restaurants available, a Motocross track, tennis courts, community center, and LOTS of golfing opportunities for residents and visitors alike (the Doral, the Desert Oasis Resort, the Desert Princess Country Club, the Cathedral Canyon Country Club, and Lawrence Welk's Desert Oasis can be found here). Finally, one would not want to miss the Desert Dixieland Jazz Festival, held at the Doral, featuring the best jazz bands in the country!
